Cristin Gavin is an accomplished professional with a strong background in STEM education, particularly in the field of Neuroscience. As the Associate Professor of Neurobiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, she plays a key role in the Undergraduate Neuroscience Program (UNP), guiding over 400 students who pursue careers in biomedical fields. Cristin is also the Co-Director of the UAB Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program, supporting underrepresented groups aiming for doctoral training in biomedical sciences.

Her research interests revolve around synaptic mechanisms underlying experience-dependent plasticity and their impact on cognition, learning, and memory. With a robust academic and research background, Cristin possesses a diverse skill set in neuroscience sub-disciplines like animal behavior research, in vivo imaging, electrophysiology, molecular biology, and genetics.

Cristin Gavin's educational journey includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neurobiology and Neurosciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as a BA in Philosophy and a B.S in Biology from Birmingham-Southern College. She has held various roles at UAB, including Associate Dean for Biomedical Programs, Assistant Professor, Co-Director of the PREP Program, Director of Professional Development, and Co-Director of the Undergraduate Neuroscience Program, showcasing her commitment to academia and research.
