Can identity verification make the world a better place? Before I joined MetaMap 18 months ago, that sentence would've made me scrunch up my face with skepticism. That was before I realized that 2/3 of the world's population is essentially in the dark in the eyes of banks and other crucial services, lacking a solid financial history or even the means to prove who they are to many businesses. MetaMap has been building identity verification for emerging markets, specifically across Latin America and Africa. This allows banks, fintechs, retailers, rideshare companies, and thousands of others to now be willing to extend these services to more people than ever before.

The company we competed with most in this space was Incode. Incode has a similar mission - powering a world of trust. With the most sophisticated technology in the industry, Incode goes further than any other company at ensuring a human is who they say they are. That's especially important with the rise of generative AI and deepfakes, creating a situation where you have to even second guess if your CEO directing you to wire money on a Zoom call is actually your CEO (even though you 're staring right at her on the screen). Incode helps global banks like Citi better understand their customers but also addresses hundreds of other use cases - including verifying voters for a US election two years ago.

Now MetaMap has joined Incode and I'm very excited for what these two companies together can solve in the world. I'm also excited to be helping the combined entity better understand how to communicate what they are building.

Special thanks to Filip Victor and Meghna Mann for believing in me at MetaMap, to Ricardo Amper for giving me this opportunity at Incode, and to the team I've worked with since I arrived that creates amazing work every day. Let's do this. 🙏
