Dan Butchko is the Director of Developer Relations at Arkadium, a leading browser-based game (BBG) company.12 He is responsible for leading the Arkadium for Developers program, which aims to bring great games from developers onto the Arkadium platform.1 Arkadium's platform welcomes over 18 million players per month across hundreds of websites, including Arkadium.com, The Washington Post, and USA Today.12
Butchko has been working in the games industry for over 10 years and is an out and proud member of the LGBTQ community.1 He is known for uniting and empowering developers, brands, and fans through video games.3
Before joining Arkadium in January 2024, Butchko was the Founder and CEO of Playcrafting for almost nine years.13 During his time at Playcrafting, he transformed a local meetup into a global developer network of more than 30,000 people and produced over 300 events and classes for game developers and fans.1 He also oversaw the creation of more than 150 games and demos for major brands.13 Additionally, Butchko hosted the largest Global Game Jam site in North America for seven years in a row.1 Before Playcrafting, Butchko ran events and marketing for Help For Children, a charity.1 He also briefly worked with MrBeast in North Carolina before returning to New York City and joining Arkadium.1
Butchko has a degree in social work, and his skills include project management, business development, game production, community building, and DEI initiative development.3 His work has been featured in The New York Times, Kotaku, and Polygon.3 He was also a Queer in Games Honoree in June 2021.3
