Well... surprise! As of September, I’m the Chief Innovation Officer at Infocap, where we’re diving into Intelligent Automation for future-focused organizations.

And nobody's more surprised than I am.

How did I land this gig that didn't actually exist up until a few weeks ago?

Well, it all started with a spontaneous catch-up at a Starbucks with Carlene Lanier, an old colleague from Delphi Group, where we worked together for 10 years.

A few hours and lots of caffeine later, I was buzzing with ideas about working together again, though no specifics were on the table, just the mysterious phrase "Nathaniel asked me to check into what you were doing these days..."

Days later, we met up again—this time joined by Nathaniel, another Delphi Group alum and my first boss 30 years ago.

Quick backstory: I was fresh out of Berklee College of Music back then, clueless about corporate IT, but I jumped in headfirst, eventually becoming CTO, Senior Analyst, and Workshop Creator all rolled into one. What can I say, I thrive doing lots of things at once - they all feed together in my eyes.

After a 10-year run, we were acquired by Perot Systems where most of us stayed for the vesting period, and in the interm, we've stayed connected, mostly through TK’s legendary Christmas parties (TK = Thomas Koulopoulos, CEO of Delphi Group, my co-founder for the last two companies I started, and co-author of our 2014 book, "The Gen Z Effect").

Back to that second Starbucks meeting—more hours flew by, and before I knew it, I was home digitally scribbling down even more ideas, that haven't stopped since.

Nathaniel, who’s been laser-focused on all things process automation for 30 years, and has done some truly massive scale work focused on technology-enhanced processes sent me an offer two days later.

Ten minutes after that? E-Signed, e-sealed, e-delivered.

I know people say "this is a new chapter," but this feels like a whole new book—a sequel, if you will. And unlike Matrix 2, even better the second time around.

Buckle up, because Infocap is about to launch into some big things.

Stay tuned!

PS - And I've always leaned on the much smarter people than I that I've come to know over the years, so don't be surprised if you hear from me. We have a rocket to get off the ground here, and whew, there's a lot to do!

Everyone knows Meta. Not everyone (yet!) knows my friends at Virtual Sapiens But "Sapiens" is about to explode as a search term...

Meta just introduced "Sapiens: a Foundation for Human Vision Models" (boring academic paper below): https://lnkd.in/e5dGPCX9

There's no formal relationship that I know of between Meta and Virtual Sapiens (yet?), but this is one of those moments when a big elephant steps into the ring, and there's momentum to be had by leveraging a sudden shift in the popularity of a term.

Meta's Sapiens is a framework for vision models - generic capability to be plugged into other apps.

Virtual Sapiens is an AI-based video coaching platform that reveals how others may be perceiving you over video, and the communication ā€œblind spotsā€ holding you back.

Rachel Cossar and her team are doing a hell of a job at Virtual Sapiens, and if you care about being the best you can be on camera, you should take a look at what they're doing.

And Meta? Well, we'll see where Sapiens ends up beyond the academic work they've done so far.
