Highlights
We're currently helping a client move away from Looker.
You'd think this'd be a big shift, but actually it's not too bad. As long as you're moving to a well designed BI tool, the shift can be done in a few weeks. We've developed some handy automations that get a big chunk of the work done in seconds.
A lot of people adopted Looker when it was hands-down the best BI tool on the market, but now the prices are creeping up and they feel trapped - they can't imagine migrating thousands of lines of LookML and hundreds of dashboards.
If your prices are being put up by a few thousand quid, the move is probably not worth the effort. But if it's a lot more than that, don't feel backed into a corner. There are realistic options. Happy to talk through our experience 1:1 if it'd help.
Let's talk about Hashboard - a tool that's quickly becoming a favourite in our data toolkit.
We helped Ditto build a custom activation dashboard using Hasboard which allowed them to monitor activation rates, and how they're changing over time, in a way that just wasn't possible in Mixpanel. We've now got a clear picture of where things are going well and where there's room for improvement, and the team are now preparing a set of interventions to see if they can move things up and to the right 📈
One thing we particularly like about Hashboard is that it's really easy to jump off from any particular tile within a dashboard to start slicing and dicing, for example seeing if the trend it shows is also true for different segments of users. We think this kind of functionality is crucial if you're trying to build a data-literate organisation.
I've got strong opinions, developed over close to fifteen years, on what makes a good BI tool, and Hashboard seem to share a lot of those opinions.
