Highlights
Resume Writing 101:
There are a million different opinions but here's what I've known to be effective.
Keep it SIMPLE!
Write it in Word, leave the fancy graphics and your picture off- it's better for downloading into company's Applicant Tracking Systems.
More than 1 page is ok as long as it's relevant information.
Avoid long, run-on sentences and use bullet points.
Make it chronological with the most current job at the top along with the dates you've been there.
Use (1,2,3) numbers, % Percentages and $ Dollar signs to show accomplishments when possible on how you saved or made the company many or for any reason that clarifies what you do.
If your a Sales person, your entire description should be all about numbers, dollar signs and/or percentages on how you saved the company money, made the company money, grew your territory or increased profit margins etc.
List the company and what they do along with the dates you were there.
If you have very little experience, put your education first on your resume if you have a degree.
If you are applying for a job and it calls for certain experience that you have and it's not on your resume, be sure to add it.
Use Spell Check and have someone else read it over!
Some people like to put an "Objective" or "Summary" at the top of their resume.
That is only OK if it matches exactly to the job you are applying.
Otherwise, don't do it.
If above doesn't make sense, below is a basic sample format that I think is effective but you definitely need to tailor it to your industry and job.
LinkedIn Recruiter Hack:
You don't need a person's correct email address to put into their profile.
You can just guess at the person's professional email address and put it into their profile.
Even if it's wrong, the message will still go through and you won't get charged for an InMail.
