Dana Decent

Project Manager, Partnerships at Community Foundations of Canada

Dana Decent is a climate change and sustainability professional with a diverse background in philanthropy, non-profit, corporate, and academic sectors. She currently works as the Program Director of Climate and Health at Definity Foundation, where she advances collaborations addressing root causes and impacts of inequalities.1

Previously, Dana held the position of Director of Partnerships at Community Foundations of Canada from 2019 to 2023, where she led fundraising, stewardship, and sustainability efforts.12 Her work at CFC included:

  • Securing funding for CFC's first climate change learning cohort
  • Co-creating the Canadian Philanthropic Commitment on Climate Change
  • Establishing CFC's first Sustainability Partner
  • Co-founding CFC's Sustainability Committee

Before her role at CFC, Dana worked as Manager of the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo from 2016 to 2019, leading operations and climate change and health research.13

Dana holds an M.E.S. in Sustainability Management and a B.E.S. in Environment and Business from the University of Waterloo. She has received several recognitions, including:

Dana is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, and kayaking with her wife Tania and their dog Taco.14
