Highlights
In January my wife and I welcomed our first child into the world.
Here are 17 things it taught me about running a B2B company:
KIDDING!
After going on a sabbatical following her birth, there's really only one main lesson for me here that applies to business and it's all about balance and priorities. Or rather, the right balance of priorities at the right time.
I am so grateful to have been able to have as much time to spend with my daughter as I have in the past 7 months. It absolutely was the right balance of the right priorities at the time.
After a long break though, I find myself missing a lot of the fun, challenge and ups and downs of entrepreneurship, and it's time for me to rebalance my priorities.
Personally, I find it's pretty easy to be all-in or all-out.
A few weeks to a month of a heads-down work sprint? Easy
Several weeks fully unplugged from the internet to reset? Simple
Maintaining a great work/life balance where all the important priorities in your life are getting the proper attention? Much more difficult, at least for me. I usually tend to lean too far in one direction or the other.
This time around though, I have a huge motivator for me to keep up a great balance. To build a great business and thus, life for my family, while being able to spend as much time as possible with them.
I'm excited to be back at it, back on LinkedIn and even excited to be back in my inbox again.
Mostly I'm excited about having a much stronger and clearly defined motivation behind everything I'm doing.
