While other fast charging #EV battery technologies, such as solid-state, are being developed, it is difficult to predict when they will become commercially viable.

Solid-State Batteries, the industry hot buzzwords, theoretically, have promising high energy density and excellent performance, but they still face many challenges, such as scale-up and manufacturability. Additionally, the use of a highly reactive lithium-metal anode could pose serious safety risks. Therefore, a realistic date for their commercialization remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, StoreDot's extreme fast charging (XFC) batteries are already advancing and gearing up for commercial availability. They also outshine other fast charging batteries with exceptional charging speeds, energy density, long cycle life, and increased safety.

Our XFC technology is unmatched in the market: 80% charge in just below 10 minutes (4-5C rates). This is a big leap from advanced Li-ion batteries, which charge twice as long: around 20 minutes for 80% charge at 2C rate. Only by 2030, projected C rates could align with StoreDot's XFC tech.

Our technology is powered by an innovative silicon anode. Unlike traditional Li-ion batteries that only use silicon admixtures, we use a silicon dominant anode (with over 40% silicon), in order to further increase energy density (with over 320Wh/kg at a cell level). At the same time, it manages to remain resistant to swelling, and has reduced reactivity. This means enhanced safety and stability, as well as much faster charging without damaging the anode (with over 1,200 consecutive XFC cycles).

From the car industry’s perspective, silicon dominant XFC battery technology is the smart investment, and StoreDot is currently working closely with automakers to bring it to market.   #EV #EVs #EVbattery #batteries #fastcharging #EVcharging #XFC
