Highlights
Given new regulations, Verdantix projects $5.9 billion will be spent on sustainability assurance in 2028.
On balance, do you think assurance or auditing requirements are good or bad? (If you see both good and bad aspects, does one of them outweigh the other?)

A lot of people say sustainability doesn’t matter. 👉 But not people who actually put their money where their mouths are.
About this post: sustainability leaders need to be catalysts. Showing its connection to financial success can help a lot.
1️⃣ Plenty of people say sustainability doesn’t affect profits. But…
👉 The actions of people who actually have to put money on it don’t agree. 👈
2️⃣ As Andrew Winston points out, most professionals in the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) space would pay more for a company with good ESG performance.
💰 And stock analysts agree: they issue higher target prices for companies with higher ESG scores.
💰 And buyers of stocks agree: a study of 16,000 stocks over 4 years showed that firms with higher emissions had lower stock prices relative to their earnings (P/E ratios).
3️⃣ In other words:
👉 Those people who actually have to put their money where their mouths are? They put their money on sustainability performance. 👈
While sustainability isn’t the # 1 factor people consider – for example, M&A professionals would pay 3% more for a company with good ESG ratings – it’s very much not worthless or irrelevant!
And now that MIT has shown how to make the ratings less noisy – and double their connection with results – that will only increase.
👉 What you can do:
» Don’t let anyone tell you sustainability doesn’t matter for financial results.
» If someone tries, politely ask them why the people who have to put money where their mouths are don’t agree.
