Daniel Certo has a strong passion for teaching and education, finding joy in helping others learn.

His advocacy for organic foods and farming led him to develop a keen interest in aquaponics, blending aquaculture and hydroponics as an organic food source and educational tool.

While at Allegheny College, Dan played a pivotal role in constructing the college's initial aquaponics system using spare parts, eventually advocating for its integration into campus renovation plans.

His efforts resulted in the establishment of a larger-scale aquaponics system to conduct research and supply fresh produce to campus cafeterias.

Dan's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency led him to participate in various fairs, conferences, and seminars focused on topics like food waste, waste diversion, and biofuels.

He delivered presentations and led discussions on topics such as biofuels, mobility, and fuel efficiency at events like the Allegheny Green Innovators Festival and the Heinz Youth Philanthropy conference.

Dan further expanded his knowledge by attending the Energy Path conference at Villanova University to learn about micro-hydro energy technology.

His educational background includes studying Environmental Studies and Education at Allegheny College, following which he attended Mt. Lebanon High School.

Throughout his career, Dan held diverse roles encompassing customer care consultancy, aquaponics management, serving, and fuel conservation advocacy.
