It’s a wrap! Great week at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Here are my personal takeouts.

🦁🦁 Dutch creativity is in a good place. The campaigns ‘Piece of Me’, KPN, Dentsu Creative Amsterdam, Amp.Amsterdam // The Sonic Branding Company (big SO to Boris Nihom and Joost Haartsen) and ‘Refurb’, Philips, LePub | Amsterdam have both won a Grand Prix. This is the biggest Cannes Lions Grand Prix win in Dutch ad agency history. Congratulations to all involved!

💡International self-regulation is implementing more specific sustainability provisions. The 11th revision of the International Chamber of Commerce code for Advertising and Marketing Communication Practice (ICC Code) has been approved. The new version of the ICC Code contains stipulations about sustainability advertising (e.g. future performance claims). It will be published very soon.

🌿 In general, sustainability was a big topic in Cannes. It was lovely to meet Célia Bouhadouf at the ARPP - Autorité de Régulation Professionnelle de la Publicité function on Tuesday. Célia’s company LOSANJE upcycles clothing and fashion accessories at an industrial scale, so do get in touch with her if your company would like to explore the possibilities.

🍸Great to see so many friends and catch up. À la prochaine fois, Cannes !

GALA Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance organized a breakfast meet-up in Cannes this morning on sustainability in advertising. In exuberant surroundings, with a choice of 1,000,000 other events that are probably way more sexy, close to 100 people showed up to learn about this important subject. Now that’s encouraging. Great event!
