Highlights
On the global market, there are dozens of providers of #solar energy production forecasts. Are they all the same? Which group of them provide the best quality?
A few days ago, I shared my opinions on this with attendees of #Solarplaza event in Budapest, Hungary.
Price is not the best selection parameter, as forecasts from a top-quality provider can have a similar price as forecasts from a low-quality provider.
What makes the difference is the accuracy of #PV forecasts, which is driven by a set of technologies used for their computation. Best forecasts necessitate a combination of many approaches. Very important ones are the physical PV simulation model which can support also complex PV tracker structures and satellite-based detection&prediction of cloud movement (so-called CMV - Cloud Moving Vector model).
Only a very very small number of forecast providers have in hands these modern technologies that allow them to be best at this moment and even more accurate in close future.
