Starting the day with some good news...
After treating her injuries from a small fender-bender, Lebanese-born physician Naji Abumrad befriends country music legend Dolly Parton.
Seven years later and as COVID-19 hits the US, Dr. Abumrad tells Dolly about his Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s colleague’s early vaccine research.
Dolly strokes a check for $1 million to support the effort.
The donation directly funds early stage research critical to Moderna’s vaccine development.
The vaccine is announced this week to be 94.5% effective.
Sometimes the most unusual partnerships lead the most inspiring work. Cheers to Dr. Abumrad, Vanderbilt University, researchers/scientists/supporters, and.... Dolly Parton.
