A bit delayed on LinkedIn, but here goes –

After eight wonderful and wacky years at Google, I turned in my badge at the end of March. Like so many others, my role was eliminated in the big tech shuffle. Now that I’ve had the time and space to reflect, I'd like to share an executive summary…

📓 RECAP: Google opened doors for me to do some pretty extraordinary things in my career. I’ve ghost-written articles for bigwigs and exchanged emails with Noam Chomsky (lol what?). I’ve coordinated events with presidential cabinet members and met some wannabes, too. (timely.). I’ve created TV and print ads for one of the most recognizable brands in the world. And I’ve helped small business owners across the country grow in an increasingly digital divide.

💡 TAKEAWAY: This is all well and good, and great for bragging on LinkedIn. But when I sincerely take inventory, I’m most proud that someone like me could make it at a place like that. I hope Google continues to hire and develop underdog talent, and I hope that it never takes for granted the amazing employees who work hard to make it succeed.

📣 ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: Thank you to the friends and colleagues who supported me along the way. Your notes, texts, hugs, and meet-ups mean so much. And thank you to the mentors and friends who helped me get brave enough to apply in the first place. It changed my life.

🚀 NEXT STEPS: I’m not sure. Probably more onerous home renovations for my mother? In the meantime, I'm open to suggestions and feeling ready for what's next.
