How do you leverage AI to your advantage, rather than fearing the future? Maybe it’s just putting off the inevitable, but we should have fun along the way! So as a dad, I’m going to use this to elevate my parenting antics:
Yesterday I was eating lunch when a package arrived from Old Navy for my daughter. She bought it with her own money and was eagerly waiting for it to arrive, so of course, I wanted to hide it before she got home from school. My challenge was to come up with a ‘treasure hunt’ she could follow, using only the time left in my lunch break:
- Pick 10 locations around to hide clues.
- Use ChatGPT to generate a riddle for each location.
- Take a recent e-mail from my daughter’s teacher describing this week’s learning objectives and have ChatGPT generate 5 relevant questions.
- Automatically generate 5 static webpages from the questions that only show the next clue when the right answer is submitted.
- Put the pages on a local machine with a basic web server.
- Generate QR codes for each page.
- Print the 10 clues, hide them and the package, and go back to work.
It had some rough edges, but I love that I could rapidly go from an idea to implementation. Plus, my daughter loved it, so that was the best part.
