"If you know something's going to work, it's not worth working on.
It requires no courage. It requires no faith. It requires no skin in the game.
Whether you're a spy or a teacher or a spouse or a painter or an abuela or an astronaut or a monk or a barista or a board-game designer [or a Panzurian ✌️], the bits that matter are the bits you make matter by putting yourself on the line for them.
The unknown is the foundry where you forge your chips.
Everything important is uncertain.
Sitting with the discomfort of that uncertainty is the hard part, the wedge that can move the world."
👉 .... and move the world we shall.
[Hat tip to Eliot Peper for writing it. Admiration to the team at Panzura for living it.]
"I am always doing what I can't do yet in order to learn how to do it."
That's how Vincent van Gogh responded in a letter to his brother Theo when criticized for lacking the formal training of a professional artist.
Like my colleagues at Panzura, whom I admire, he was humble, relentlessly driven, and determined to create something the world had never seen before.
Today, the collective value of his life's work stands at nearly $15 billion, surpassing Picasso, Monet, Warhol, and Leonardo da Vinci.
Despite facing rejection and grappling with mental health challenges, van Gogh never gave in to the critics. As he put it:
"What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?"
And so, attempt we shall.
