Are Admin Staff, People involved with Agents or Maintenance of SDA Properties "NDIS Workers".
Yes. Even is someone's only contact is to email participants about getting mowing or repairs done. And this is just one of the many reasons that operating SDA is complex.
If SDA has a real estate agent as "property manager" every staff member in that agency would be an NDIS worker. Not to mention every trade, service person that they send to an SDA property.
On top of this, the privacy provisions require that only those people in the organisation who need access to the information about the NDIS participants are able to access it. So unless your real estate agent software gates information and shuts it down to those required, it won't be compliant.
Most SDA providers software can't cope with the privacy regulations, let alone real estate agent software. No off the shelf REA software does this to my knowledge.
According to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, any person who has more than incidental contact with NDIS participants, or who has access to their personal information, is considered an NDIS worker. This includes administrative staff who communicate with participants or manage their information.
To ensure compliance, such administrative staff should:
Adhere to the NDIS Code of Conduct:
- Uphold the rights of participants and promote safe and ethical service delivery.
2,. Undergo Worker Screening Checks: Depending on the state or territory, this might include NDIS Worker Screening Checks or other relevant background checks.
- Complete Induction and Training: Engage in necessary training to understand their responsibilities and the standards expected in the NDIS environment.
SDA management is expensive, time consuming and requires custom software.
The crackdown on this has started and for many it just won't be viable to remain an SDA Provider. (This applies to many other SDA Providers also).
Hi Everyone. Please take a moment to sign this and help. This is a cause very close to my heart.
Winning the lease on this property allows it to continue to be used by some wonderful ladies that do so much for our community, far beyond teaching the 600 dancers that use it each week. If they lose access to this it will be an absolute tragedy.
We are also going to open it up to the wider community for schools, kindy's, sports clubs etc to use a function centre on Friday's and Saturday nights. During the day we have tae kwon-do, Nia and whole swag of other community uses.
On top of that, any fees are donated back through our charity to help young people participate in sport, dance or performing arts.
This is such a wonderful facility that can be used by so many people each week, please support our tender
