Highlights
Running (and working at) an agency is not always easy. Client onboarding, client churn, employee churn, pricing and financial pressures, the list goes on.
I've learned some big lessons the hard way and also was lucky to eventually find a sense of community among agency leaders to help lean on for support.
That is why the teams at Agency Growth Events and Ecommerce Partnerships are set to release their ecommerce agency book, filled with tips on how to sustainably grow an agency, and I'm excited to be a contributor to it!
There will be a webinar covering the book release and key themes/takeaways on October 26th, link to sign up in the comments below.
Big thanks to Rachel Jacobs 🇺🇦 for seeking my input and Dr. Baris Onay for producing this great piece of thought leadership.

Shoutout to the marketers in my network - After being in the marketing industry for 8 years, I FINALLY figured out why it is so awesome:
Diversity of Thought.
Last week I talked to four current/former agency owners, these were their educational backgrounds:
- engineering
- microbiology
- design
- economics
And they were talking to me, an accountant by trade, about our mutual passion for marketing.
At its core, the principles of experimentation, was the common theme. Changing variables such as messaging, positioning, pricing, all in an effort to emotionally (and sometimes logically) appeal to an audience.
I see this every day at Hawke Media, where team members come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring their own unique experience and perspective to make marketing work for clients!
Marketing is the intersection of such a wide variety paths and experiences, and represents the confluence of other more prescribed functions of the business (finance, sales, etc). You don't need a professional designation in marketing to be a marketer, which allows for such a range in experience and expertise, that it makes such a fascinating function.
