Highlights
Everyone wants to close out the year strong and now is the time to put those pieces in place.
Reactive won't get you there, and I got a great question from a portco CTO about what other companies are doing.
Reduce waste, increase intentionality, and deliver!
How are you planning to do these things to close out 2024?
Batch #705: Security & Compliance Teams
From 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘖𝘱𝘴 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘌𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘺 (2023): The primary role of security is not to eliminate threats but to reduce risk and facilitate robust response to incidents. As such, there needs to be a partnership between our development and operations teams on the one hand and security on the other.
💡Protip: Since you're trying to bring as many people along as early as possible (because early course corrections are more valuable) in transforming your org, Security is a great partner! In PE portcos Security is often either:
• left by the wayside
• overly exerting control and making everyone else's lives miserable
By bringing Security into the changes early, they can have their needs met (esp. wrt audit) in ways that still allow work to flow smoothly through the system, allow you to deploy very often, etc. The partnership yields great allies to help you on your path to elite software delivery.
The Batch above is from @Adam Hawkins "Small Batches" Slack app, which is a great team conversation starter.
