This week, I am thinking about my WORK WHY. Why do I work so hard? Why do I choose to do what I do?
Hey Producing Leaders,
My goal is to go deeper over the next couple of days and think about my WHY. I hope this encourages you to think about yours, too.
I’ve noticed lately that some people I’ve spoken with aren’t as excited about today’s opportunities as the leaders who are winning biggest. I’ve been talking to several leaders whose stories in the mortgage industry have changed over the past few years. The common theme as to why they are burnt out is a lack of clear purpose and passion beyond the transaction.
Here’s one thing I know:
If you are a loan officer focused on the transaction over serving the consumer for a lifetime, then you will feel burdened by your job. Instead, your mindset should be around advising and coaching the customer for 30-50 years rather than the typical 3-5 months a transaction occurs.
That’s what I’m about. I want to help people achieve the full American dream of homeownership with financial freedom. And because I’m so passionate about this, I never want to retire.
So, this Labor Day, I want to push you to go deeper into your WORK WHY. If you are not fired up, or you’re counting down the days until you can slow down, maybe it’s time to reinvent your why. Take a look, reflect, and try to make it more valuable for you and the consumer.
For all of you new loan officers–one of the biggest gifts in life was finding my true WORK WHY. I uncovered a way to make a profit with my purpose, and ever since I can’t wait to get out of bed every morning. It can’t just be about income–buying a new car, house, etc. It has to also be about impact.
The sooner you find that deeper WORK WHY, the more fun and successful your job will be. So break out your journals and start sharing here what your WORK WHY is. I would love to know! Share in the comments.

It’s time to update your refi playbook.
We're shifting from a high-rate market where defense was key, to a lowering rate environment that demands an offensive strategy.
It's crucial for companies to reassess how they're supporting their loan officers and ensure they're equipped with the latest education and resources. Big opportunities are coming and preparation is key.
I've been conducting daily webinars with our customers at TrustEngine to remind loan officers of best practices and highlighting the many opportunities in this shifting market. This could be anything from imminent rate-and-term refis to debt consolidation loans and helping people restructure their debt and equity to accelerate their financial freedom.
The lenders and loan officers who will win big in this new market will focus on 3-5 key cornerstones:
- Proactive Client Outreach: Reaching out to past clients and keeping in touch with prospects.
- Education: Both for loan officers on new products and strategies, and for clients on the benefits of refinancing.
- Leveraging Technology: Using tools like TrustEngine Platform to identify refi opportunities and streamline the process.
- Personalized Solutions: Tailoring refi options to each client's unique financial situation using Mortgage Coach
- Speed to Need: Being able to move quickly as rates fluctuate.
So given this, I'd like to volunteer my services to the broader industry for webinars, or even just reviewing your refi playbooks. It’s my goal to ensure your team is positioned to win big in this shifting market.
Let me know your thoughts!
