As generative AI apps moved into the public consciousness in 2023, we saw a wave of concern and fear among many university faculty, with the primary concern being the use of these new tools for plagiarism. As more faculty began to use and understand these tools, interest grew in how to apply them in the classroom to improve the the student (and faculty) experience. Myself, I have used it to help me develop course materials and customize lectures for specific groups of students. And now I am using it to begin developing supporting materials such as rubrics and brainstorming for future class topics. Here at the Biola AI Lab, we want to support faculty, staff, and students in their responsible use of AI.
If you could give us some advice about how to best support faculty in their use of AI this coming year, what would you recommend?
