Highlights
Long ago, when I was at Leigh High School in San Jose, California, I was the drum major of the school marching band. My bandmates and I had different backgrounds, were part of different social groups, and had different interests. But when we put our uniforms on for performances, we were one and the same. And the feeling of belonging to that community was so powerful that we would proudly wear our custom gear in between performances.
That sense of being a part of something bigger than myself is something I've carried with me to today, which is why I am honored, enthusiastic, and energized to be joining Custom Ink as CEO and a member of the Board of Directors. Custom Ink is a special company that helps people build a sense of community and belonging, a mission that aligns with my own values as a person and a leader and something we need much more of in the world today.
Custom Ink is the online leader in custom wearables and other swag for organizations, groups, and communities. It is a strong business with excellent financial position and tremendous growth potential, thanks to its market position, powerful brand, talented team, and loyal base of millions of satisfied customers. I can’t wait to work with the Custom Ink team to design and drive the next phase of the company’s growth.
In taking this role, I also want to recognize the extraordinary vision and leadership of my predecessor, Marc Katz, who co-founded this company and led it so successfully for the past 25 years. Marc has become a good friend and a trusted advisor, and I look forward to working with him in his continuing role as Chairman of the Board.
I would also like to thank Michael Kumin and David Roberts of Great Hill Partners and the rest of the Custom Ink Board for the opportunity to serve as CEO of this remarkable company. This former drum major is ready to put on my custom gear again and be part of another great team.

It’s with mixed emotions that I have made the decision to leave Realtor.com.
When I joined the company as CEO nearly three and a half years ago, little did I know what would be in store. Shortly after starting, the biggest disruptive event to ever impact the real estate industry, in the form of the COVID pandemic, hit hard. Fast forward to the present, and I am overwhelmed with the great work that has been driven by thousands of people who banded together to improve and transform the most noble of causes – helping people find a home. I have been privileged to lead this extraordinary team as we made so many improvements to every part of our company - our culture, our consumer products, our agent and broker products, diversifying into selling, rentals and new construction, changing how we market the company, improving our sales, success and service activities, acquiring new businesses… the list goes on.
Real estate has always had its ups and downs, never more so than in the last three years. I am extremely proud and grateful to have been at the helm during this journey, but I can’t give enough credit to our employees, our customers, our partners, our owners, and people everywhere who entrusted us to help them find their perfect home. Driven by the best team in digital real estate, the company achieved record revenues, traffic, and consumer satisfaction and is stronger and more resilient now than it has ever been.
While there is so much more success that lies ahead for Realtor.com, this feels to me like the right time to push myself as a leader and to move on to my next challenge. And I can’t wait for what lies ahead. But I will always be pulling for Realtor.com, its leaders, and its staff – with them in place, the possibilities are endless. And I will always feel gratitude and appreciation to News Corp, particularly to robert thomson and Tracey Fellows for entrusting me with the reins during this time. It was an incredibly rewarding experience.
Damian Eales will be the new CEO. I have no doubt that Damian and our great employees will succeed wildly at taking advantage of all of the possibilities that still remain to revolutionize how people buy, sell, rent, and own their perfect home.
