Highlights
Over the past month, our mpt.ag team have been out in the filed successfully conducting our #plant24 winter cropping trials. Last year's trials were done during one of the driest autumn's on record, and we relied on our #infurrow #soil #sensors, and high hydraulic downforce to find suitable a suitable soil moisture profile to establish crop emergence. However in the weeks leading up to this year's trials, a series of favorable weather events resulted in a full moisture profile. Whilst we still needed the hydraulic downforce on some of the more elevated country, the high drag of the seeder meant that we had insufficient traction and bogged situations on the lower country. To overcome this we updated the machines software to allow the additional functionality of #variable #downforce, which greatly reduced the drag force required, and in turn allowed for a greater travel speed, increasing in the rate of hectares per hour that could be covered.
