David Gonzalez

David Gonzalez is a veteran journalist, photographer, and editor who worked at The New York Times from 1990 to 2024.6 He served as the co-editor of the New York Times Lens Blog, a platform dedicated to photography, video, and visual journalism.34 Gonzalez's career at the Times included various roles such as Bronx Bureau Chief, Metro Religion writer, "About New York" columnist, and Central America/Caribbean Bureau Chief.12

Throughout his tenure, Gonzalez focused on covering New York City's neighborhoods and their reflection of broader social and cultural issues in American society.14 He wrote the biweekly "Side Street" photo-essay feature for the paper's Metro Section, combining his skills in writing and photography.45
