David Mackay

David Mackay is the Chief Pilot at Virgin Galactic, a renowned commercial astronaut, and a former Royal Air Force (RAF) test pilot. In 2009, Mackay joined Virgin Galactic, where he has been instrumental in developing the SpaceShipTwo (SS2) program. On February 22, 2019, he became the 569th person and the first Scot to reach space, piloting the VSS Unity to an altitude of 89.9 km.123 Mackay has since led several suborbital flights, including Unity 21 and Unity 22.1
