I have departed BD. Sad to go and to leave some great friends and colleagues behind, but excited for my next adventure. During my time at BD, I saw up close how the company reacted, adapted and responded to the Covid threat that affected us all this last few years. Pretty amazing to see how a major medtech company with a uniquely broad portfolio of products, essential to health care across the globe, played its role in the fight against Covid. Allowing the accurate detection of the virus in the community to limit unwanted spread through to supporting the sick individual fighting for his or her life on the ICU. And, later, helping in the administration of millions and millions of vaccine shots to you, me, family and loved ones. Lastly, doing all this with an eye on maintaining a supply chain to deliver billions of product units to the hospitals and clinics in all corners of the globe, and with the other eye on returning to the care of non-Covid conditions that had been left relatively unattended during this fraught time. Covid may be in the rear-view mirror or, better said, in a more manageable state and healthcare returns to some level of normalcy, with many tough lessons to contemplate, but we should be comforted that BD continues with its mission. Thank you BD for the experience and for what you do.
