The Federal Court of Australia decision in the case of Tickle v Giggle has clarified that women and girls are not being protected by a key piece of national legislation. Amendments made in 2013, during the tenure of Labor PM Julia Gillard, added gender ideologies to the Sex Discrimination Act and removed the definitions of men and women. This has allowed men who "identify" as women to force their way into female groups and places, including safe and vulnerable spaces... I'm in favour of progress that is evidence-based, but these 2013 amendments were regressive.
Sall Grover was found to have indirectly discriminated against the person known as "Roxy Tickle", and she is liable for $10,000 plus legal costs (up to $50,000). After founding an online app for women, all she did was to kick out a user who looked like a man...
This week the Flying Bats Football Club from Sydney won the Women's Premier League grand final, with five transgender players on their team. Six of their wins came as the result of forfeits, with their competitors fearing their own safety and outraged at the unfairness...
On the global stage, two Olympic athletes with XY chromosomes took home gold medals after defeating their female opponents in the women's boxing. Hugely dispiriting for women who aspire to compete on a fair playing field.
As a loving father and as a concerned citizen, I believe that sensible people in the political centre need to speak up to right this wrong. I have a lot of "skin in this game" with a daughter, nieces, wife, sister, aunts and mother who I care about. Quite aside from the circumstances above, the Australian Human Rights Commission should not be siding with voyeurs and perverts. Sensible changes must be made to the Sex Discrimination Act, to protect girls and women.
Here are three things that I have done, which you can also do to help:

This week I'm celebrating Funland Canberra Kids Playcentre, which has a huge indoor playcentre in Mitchell. It has become a favourite for our family, and we have held a couple of birthday parties there. They are family owned and run, with a wide range of activities for little ones. We particularly like the disco dancing area, that's hidden underneath the climbing structure.
Lily can help you with function bookings at Funland, with several themed rooms plus food:

With the high cost of employment, onerous regulations/compliance, and tough trading conditions, I encourage everyone to support small, local, family businesses. These entrepreneurs put in huge hours, often earning less than average wages, and sometimes literally putting their home on the line to provide services and products for all of us...
