As the Regional Executive for the American Hospital Association (AHA), David plays a crucial role representing the organization to hospitals and state/metro hospital associations across Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. In this capacity, he works diligently to address the unique challenges faced by these member hospitals and advocate for their needs at regional and national levels.
Previously, David served as the President and CEO of TORCH, the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals, for an impressive eleven years. TORCH is an integral association that supports small hospitals—those carrying fewer than 150 beds—as well as vendors who provide essential services to these facilities. His leadership at TORCH was marked by significant advancements in rural healthcare, helping to ensure that smaller hospitals have the resources and support they require to succeed and thrive in today’s complex healthcare landscape. During his tenure at TORCH, he was also responsible for overseeing its subsidiary organizations and the management of various healthcare provider associations, further expanding his influence and contribution to the healthcare system.
Before taking the helm at TORCH, David spent five fruitful years as the Vice President of Advocacy and Communications for the organization, where he honed his skills in strategic communication and government relations. His career also includes impactful roles such as Director of Operations for the State Office of Rural Health in Texas, where he coordinated vital programs specifically designed for rural hospitals. His early career experience includes key positions in several healthcare organizations and hospitals in Texas and Kansas, notably culminating in his role as Executive Director of Med-Op, Inc., a cooperative of twelve rural hospitals in Northwestern Texas.
Education and Achievements
David Pearson's extensive education has laid a strong foundation for his successful career in healthcare management and administration. He earned both his Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration and his Master of Public Administration from Texas State University, equipping him with essential knowledge and skills that have propelled him in his professional journey.
In recognition of his expertise and contributions to healthcare, David has achieved Fellow status within the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
