Two thoughts on AI:
💡 The Wright brothers probably didn't know what they'd done when they invented the world's first successful aircraft. 💡 We have an intelligence and cultural awareness that they never had.
Whilst it's true to say we can't possibly determine the outcome of AI at this point in time, we can't simply shrug our shoulders and wait for the consequences, because this isn't our first rodeo.
Last night Amazon Web Services (AWS) brought together Niall Robinson, Suki Fuller, Eddie Seymour, Chris Cieslak, Mike Curtis-Rouse and Jon Hammant to discuss AI, robotics and it's potential impact on industry.
I need to sit and review my notes before I write anything too confidently but one theme that really hit home was how tech (unexpectedly) evolves and why that only ramps up the need for guardrails, especially the ethical considerations and ensuring they're not swept to one side in the pursuit of 💰
Finally thank-you Cheryl for advocating and screening our film on the topic. It was great to see people engaging with it!

Nash Squared Harvey Nash Tech Talks Sound & Colour Films
Yesterday I was in Leeds, and today I'm in Manchester presenting data from our Digital Leadership Report.
One piece of data I find particularly disheartening shows how progress on creating a more diverse technology industry has stalled. The trend tracking the percentage of women in tech roles has flatlined. Why? Is it an aftershock of the pandemic or a lack of sponsorship from above?
A privilege afford me by running Tech Talks is the opportunity to talk to diverse, fascinating people. Many of them are female leaders. Our industry would be richer is more of our leaders reflected the people I'm lucky to interview.
What needs to change to finally see real progress towards greater inclusion?
