I really struggle to see some of these larger firms successfully changing what is now many decades of deeply ingrained culture.
As we continue to build out our tech-based, non-siloed, collaborative brokerage, we are seeing several of the big shops attempting to shift to a similar approach. I had a conversation with a C-level person at one of the big brokerages on Monday. It has been very interesting to hear what the upper management says they want to do/are doing versus what the advisors are saying they need.
Growing up in the SV tech scene, building something people need has been pretty much the universal truth from the start. It usually helps to actually talk to the customer (or in this case, your advisors, who are your customers). Everyone knows they need to invest in tech. They know that by talking about tech, their shareholders get some artificial stock price increase. But after talking to probably >100 advisors at these shops, exactly none of the big shops are hitting the strike zone (or even close).
