Israel has an accomplished history when it comes to developing innovative foodtech companies. Today a startup came to visit us in our office and prepared lunch for us. We started with some tuna salad on a cracker, followed by a hamburger with a sunny side up egg and a kebab/sausage in a pita. It was delicious.

The only thing is that none of it was real! Fake tuna. Fake hamburger. Fake egg. Fake sausage. It was pretty mind blowing to experience how quickly these healthier, cheaper alternatives are developing. What was exciting about this startup in particular is that their solution also enhances the legacy versions of these products (i.e. real meat) and are not just linked to the growth of the alternative versions (plant based or lab grown).

Feeding the world's growing population is one of the themes of our new Liftoff accelerator with Microsoft. Proud to see Israel playing such a prominent role in this exciting field.

Headwinds can be tailwinds

I sat with a well-known proptech entrepreneur on Thursday who was mentioning the headwinds faced by many proptech companies over the past couples years as a result of the challenges in the commercial real estate sector. I told him that in our proptech portfolio (cc: EliseAI, Younity, Jones Software, Placer.ai, TULU) we are seeing unprecedented momentum and are as bullish as ever.

Yesterday we signed a term sheet for our biggest proptech investment yet.

If you are a proptech founder raising pre-seed or seed get in touch!
