Highlights
New beginnings! I am excited to announce that I’m now a Data and Privacy Policy Manager at Meta, working on AI Policy and Regulations and particularly at the intersection of data protection and AI at a global scale. Looking forward to what will likely be a very interesting and challenging time working in industry, after a decade in civil society!
After almost 2 years at OTI, it’s time to say good bye. It’s bittersweet to leave a dream job, filled almost exclusively with amazing, smart, kind people, but sometimes you have to take wild swings. A million thanks to Chhaya Kapadia for taking a chance back in 2022, to Prem M. Trivedi for his amazing mentorship and leadership, and to all those who I was very fortunate to work alongside during my time at New America
✍ My colleagues at New America's Open Technology Institute, lead by the brilliant Sarah Forland, wrote a very informative report on the fundamentals and tradeoffs of online age verification mandates.
🎙 Sarah will give an overview of this report later today (5/1) at 10am ET, during our event "Can Age Verification Help Kids Stay Safe Online?", which will also feature David Sullivan of Digital Trust and Safety Partnership, Ashley Johnson of Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, and the one and only danah boyd, all moderated by our own Prem M. Trivedi!
