Highlights
There's nothing more basic than having access to food. But for far too many people, including seniors, it's a struggle.
That's why I'm proud to share a new report by The Urban Institute, which examines the effectiveness of home delivery partnerships through DoorDash's Project DASH.
The report highlights the crucial role of home delivery in the fight against food insecurity. Some important findings include:
-
Home delivery removed food access barriers by helping the nearly 98% of surveyed clients save money and by providing charitable food to over three-quarters of clients who faced chronic health conditions and mobility challenges and filled food access gaps, with less than half of surveyed clients receiving charitable food before Project DASH.
-
80% of partners cited reaching new people in need as a motivating factor in working with Project DASH.
-
More than 90% of surveyed anti-hunger organizations reported that partnering with DoorDash allowed them to build capacity for services they otherwise would not be able to offer.
