"I’m not going to lie: I wish adult smartwatches were as fun as the Fitbit Ace LTE." - This is the insight.

Fun isn't just for kids. Consumer Health companies often undervalue or underestimate the power of (or need for) Fun.

Fun isn't one thing. Depending on your category, product, or experience. It has different pieces and parts.

For example, "gamification" isn't the same thing as Fun. In the context of a workout - the music, a coach's personality, the movement itself, etc - are all aspects of Fun.

Btw, it's hard to stay Fun over time. That is the work. Staying ahead of the Habituation Curve.

What products have you used where Fun was the key driver to habit formation? What is an experience where you've found something fun that surprised you?

Thanks to my good friend Michael Polin for always engaging in my need to have these kinds of conversations.

I was honored to attend the Association of Art Museum Directors meeting last week, representing the Oakland Museum of California alongside our inspiring Executive Director, Lori Fogarty. We had the opportunity to hear Heather McGhee, author of "The Sum of Us", speak about inequality and the pervasive negative impact of a "zero sum" narrative - the idea that progress for some must come at the expense of others. It was a powerful and enlightening session. Her book is worth the read, you'll never look at a swimming pool the same way again.   #omca #equality #artforchange
