As the Founder and CEO of PrepChamps, Inc., Dean demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by successfully raising $2.2 million in private equity capital. Under his leadership, PrepChamps was honored as the 2007 North Carolina “Fast Trac Tech Company of the Year,” and the organization eventually became the second largest site in the high school sports recruiting space before its acquisition. His forward-thinking approach and innovative strategies ensured PrepChamps made a substantial impact in the recruitment landscape.
In recent years, Dean's commitment to supporting veterans and military spouses in entrepreneurship culminated in his instrumental role in launching Bunker Labs, a nonprofit organization aimed at fostering the growth of veteran-led businesses. He initially founded one of the first six affiliate chapters, strategically expanding the nonprofit across the Atlantic Region and ultimately facilitating its growth to 40 locations nationwide. In his most recent capacity as the National Director of Ecosystem Development, Dean led a dedicated team focused on building a robust national network of community partners designed to boost the success of military-connected entrepreneurs.

It is a New Year, and it is time to level up. As an entrepreneur and business owner you should always surround yourself with like-minded people who will hold you accountable and push you to exceed your goals. This past weekend I was blessed to have the opportunity to get together with incredible veteran entrepreneurs like Freddie Kim, Jason Holeman, Will Revels, CFA, CEPA, CFP®and Alonzo Q Ford. Each inspire and push me to exceed my limits. As a group we went up to the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC to share fellowship, drink and great food together. We recapped last year, shared our goals, and discussed our challenges. Together we find ways to support each other by offering ideas, connections, and hacks. Being a business owner is not easy, the journey can be a lonely one if you let it. Being open and vulnerable is often not easy for alpha type leaders who always want to appear like they are in control. Finding others who you can share the mental, physical and spiritual challenges of entrepreneurship with is the key to success.
I know this past year I had a lot of ups and downs both professionally and personally. Being able to open up and share those wins and struggles is what helps me to move forward and grow. I challenge each and every entrepreneur to find and build their own circle of trust. Iron sharpens iron and there is always strength in numbers.
