With a background in both public and academic libraries, Dean has a strong foundation in information and research services. He possesses extensive experience in information technology support and thrives on the challenges that technology presents in various work settings. Dean is skilled in graphic design, multimedia, web design, content strategy, and social media.

Dean Kimpton holds a Diploma in Film & Television Studies from the School of Visual Art, a Higher School Certificate from Newington College, a Master of Applied Science in Library and Information Management from Charles Sturt University, and a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Writing from the University of Wollongong.

Dean has held roles such as Workplace Consultant at Six Ideas by Dexus and previously as an Associate at Six Ideas and Workcollective. He also served as a Librarian at Manly Council and held positions at the Australian Institute of Police Management in business development, communication, and education. He has also worked at the University of Wollongong in various capacities including Lending and Document Delivery Officer, IT Support Officer, and Systems Technician. Dean has further experience as a Computer Technician, Field Officer, and Storeman and Packer within different organizations.
