What are your #sales #principles?

This week, our team stepped back to define our sales principles.

As an early-stage startup, chasing every deal is tempting, especially when growth is crucial.

But sometimes, you get that gut feeling that a client might not fit culturally.

I was reminded of lessons from Jack Fuchs, whose class Jacqueline-Amadea Pely, Michael Pont, and I attended, and Ray Dalio. Both emphasize the importance of sticking to your principles.

These principles are about staying true to what we stand for, even when the pressure is on.

While we’ve always had principles for collaboration and communication, we never set clear guidelines for our GTM motion. It wasn’t something we had considered—until a conversation with 🏄‍♂️ Scott Leese this week made us realize that it’s time for a change.

A new principle was set: "As long as we don’t hit PMF and our resources are limited, we prioritize customers who value diversity and whom we could see ourselves joining."

In our discussions, we realized how perspective influences how we view these principles.

From one angle, saying no to a deal might seem like a missed opportunity.

But from another point of view, it's about protecting our focus and culture.

Like how a pair of glasses can change how we see the world, diverse perspectives can bring color to life.

They help us see the bigger picture and make decisions that not only drive short-term growth but also protect what matters most: our company's values, focus, and long-term success.

Seeing things clearly isn’t just about what’s in front of us—it’s about the lens we choose to look through.

Happy weekend ahead!
