During my travels in the #USA, I encountered some fascinating #Innovations in #Transportation and #Delivery:

🚕 𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐌𝐎 𝐓𝐀𝐗𝐈 I came across a fully autonomous taxi in #SanFrancisco, operated by Waymo, a subsidiary of Google. These self-driving cars are equipped with advanced sensors and #AI, allowing them to navigate city streets without a human driver. It's an impressive glimpse into the future of #UrbanMobility, where convenience and safety could be significantly enhanced. I would have loved to get a ride if my schedule had permitted it… Next time!😊👌🏼

🛻 𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐋𝐀 𝐂𝐘𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐂𝐊 I also spotted the Tesla #Cybertruck in several cities, a futuristic electric pickup truck with a bold design and high durability. Made with ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel and armoured glass, this vehicle stands out for its very unique appearance and impressive high performance. While its design isn’t so appealing to me, perhaps a bit too masculine for my taste…😝 there’s no denying the Cybertruck represents a significant leap forward in #ElectricVehicle #Technology, blending #Power with #Sustainability.

🤖 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐑𝐎𝐁𝐎𝐓 Finally, I saw several Starship Technologies delivery #Robots in action at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s campus, in #Atlanta. These small, autonomous robots are designed to deliver food and small packages locally. They navigate sidewalks and crosswalks with ease, providing an efficient and environmentally friendly way to manage last-mile deliveries.📦 Side note, I witnessed one of them falling off a sidewalk onto the road. A passing student put it back up…😅

Seeing these #Innovations firsthand made me excited about the idea of them arriving in #Europe and/or in #Luxembourg soon. As the #EU Legistation is quite stringent, it will take some time before we have fully approved autonomous vehicles here, even if a first legal framework came into effect in July 2022… Additionally, Tesla has no plans yet to take orders for the Cybertruck outside the #US, #Canada and #Mexico.

I’m eager to see how and when these #Technologies will become part of our everyday life here!

As a Rotarian, I have the opportunity to visit any #Rotary Club when I travel, representing my 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐜𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐡 & 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 and my country of residence, #Luxembourg.🇱🇺🇪🇺 This time, while travelling in the #USA, I visited 2 Clubs where I received a warm welcome, typical of the Rotary International.🇺🇸🕊️

🌉🌉 The Rotary Club San Francisco was founded in 1908 and is the second-oldest Rotary Club in the world, after the Rotary Club of Chicago founded by our revered 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐬 in 1905. They currently have about 130 members. There were several other visitors, both online and in person, from various parts of the States, and even from Mongolia!🇲🇳

I had the privilege of listening to Susan Tipton, an inspiring, award-winning woman winemaker based in 𝐋𝐨𝐝𝐢, 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐚. She has transformed the wine industry there, with the introduction of white French Rhône wines, after falling in love with Châteauneuf du Pape blanc - one of my favourite too!!! She also shared her experience as a woman in the wine business.

🐝🐝 The 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚, founded in 1913, is one of the largest Rotary Clubs in the world, with nearly 500 members. The conference room was packed!

This time, I had the honour of listening to Nathan Deal, the former Governor of #Georgia, as he shared his insights and lessons from life and politics. Before her passing, he promised his late wife that he would write a children's book: a promise he fulfilled. Early childhood #Education was a cause close to both their hearts. The book carries meaningful messages that should be taught to children. I fully embrace this belief, as I am also convinced that #ChildrenEducation is a critical foundation for building a better world. I had the opportunity to buy the book and take a memorable photo with the Governor. I was also delighted to meet several Georgia Institute of Technology Alumni and Professors, where my son, Karsten Caillet is currently studying #Aerospace #Engineering. He just began his Junior year, diving deeper into the third year of this challenging and exciting #Technology field. Go 𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬!🐝🌻😊

The connections I made were inspiring, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit to the Clubs!
