THE DARIEN GAP-DOCUMENTARY
‘Many who survive the Darién Gap wish they hadn’t tried it. What they experienced, what they witnessed, will haunt them for the rest of their lives.”
Last September, I worked together with Juan Arturo, a renowned journalist, but most of all a true character.
He introduced to me a terribly sad story about a horrific migration route through the most dangerous jungle in the world, The Darien Gap.
Since then I couldn’t let go of this story, where migrants from all over the world have to face extreme challenges, to reach the USA. Together we came up with the idea to make a documentary about this horrendous route.
So last November we went a long with a group of migrants to take the entire route.
I cannot express how grateful I am to all the people who had the courage to join this project.
The migration through the Darien is just a chapter in their journey that can take many months. Every single person has his own reason to flee. They deserve to be recognized in their search for freedom.
At the 2nd of may the film will be broadcasted by BNNVARA at NPO3, 22:00
