“Think of yourself as dead, you have lived your life. Now take what’s left and live it properly.”

Many of you might not know this, but 10 years ago (July 2014), I was hit by a car while crossing the street in NYC and nearly lost my life. I’ll save the details of that for another time, as I’d like to dedicate a separate post to thank the person who came to my aid that day.

As I was recovering from my concussion and the various bodily injuries from that incident, I recall going through deep moments of introspection and reflection. Reading the above quote from Marcus Aurelius was truly life changing. It made me question what I truly wanted from life, and served as the inspiration to be more deliberate about how I spend the limited time I have left on this earth — working on things that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Two years after my accident, the business we call Sharebite was born out of that reflection. We set out to build more than just a business — our goal was to create a movement and work towards getting every worker in America fed.

It’s not every day you get to step back and truly appreciate the progress you’ve made, the obstacles you’ve overcome, and the people around you who helped make it all possible. I recently had that opportunity when I caught up with Inc. Magazine's Diana Ransom to discuss Sharebite’s growth and the path that brought us here.

This journey has been far from easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. Coming in at #56 on this year’s Inc. 5000 list is a testament to our team's hard work & dedication, and serves as a reminder of why we do what we do. We’re here to make a difference — one meal, one community, one worker at a time. What's good for Sharebite is good for every worker in America.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our story. And thank you, Diana, for encouraging me to share this deeply personal journey with the public.

Incredibly grateful to have you all in my life.

Really enjoyed speaking with Cloey Callahan at WorkLife about why feeding employees is a force multiplier for initiatives like return-to-office, employee engagement, and employee well-being.

HR teams celebrate when they see ~6-8% benefit utilization rates; meal benefits have a 95% utilization rate, because everyone eats.

From the standpoint of reiterating company values, maximizing benefit utilization rates, implementing successful RTO programs, and employee satisfaction — there’s not another benefit that comes anywhere close to achieving maximum return on invested capital, the way a daily meal stipend does.

Don’t take my word for it — ask some of the most important companies in the country. What they all have in common is that they rely on Sharebite’s technology to feed their workers.

Here’s to getting every worker in America fed. 🇺🇸
