Highlights
Having worked in India, often, for the last twenty years, with colleagues from Sampark this is the first time I have had the opportunity to return since the pandemic. What an amazing week.
First, to Delhi to participate in the Global Inclusive Finance Summit, representing Women's Economic Imperative (WEI) to discuss issues around access to finance for women entrepreneurs. After this we departed for Varanasi to run workshops on new venture creation which included elements of impact of #climaterisk from my colleague CLARA ARIZA and also to celebrate the new developments there in #womensempowerment delivered by Sampark, supported by funding from Pangea Foundation and Simona Lanzoni.
Wonderful to see the difference this is making to the lives of over 1000 women mainly through #shg Savings groups and enterprise training. Sampark, over the years has empowered over 85,000 women in the rural areas of Karnataka and Varanasi over the last 25 years. Kudos to its founder Smita Premchander and her amazing colleagues. #economicempowerment #leadership #collaboration #genderequity Susan Frenk Vinita Sethi Gender and Entrepreneurship North East (GENE) Margo Thomas Krupa Sriram #futureoffinance
