SOME Men - A Dark Speculation Recently the Group “HeadsUp” at the University of British Columbia published a report on "Men’s Mental Health in the Workplace" and was supported by Community Savings Credit Union.
It summarized the condition of some men in Canada with also reference to the state of some men's mental "health" worldwide. A summary of the findings: Nearly half the sample (49%) scored above the threshold for probable major depression; 1 in 10 men registered in the severe range of probable depression. 35% experienced thoughts of suicide or self-injury at least a few times a week. 42% reported behaviours suggestive of hazardous drinking or active alcohol use disorders. 6% of men scored above the threshold for moderate-severe anger. 42% experienced high to very high somatic symptom burden. 55% reported being lonely. 30% reported at least moderate levels of burnout. 27% consider themselves to be unhappy; 36% feel that they are less happy than their peers. Given the above data, I am speculating that some men who also have deeper more serious personality dysfunctions are overwhelmed with a deep, dark cloud of Thanatos - the death drive - to destroy that with is good (eros). It is is deep urge to snuff out oneself as well as others. The most obvious and extreme of this kind of man is seen in -utin, -rump, etc., and other men who commit mass murders and dictatorial, organizations. Thoughts this speculation? Dr. Jim Sellner, Ph,D, Dip.C Author: Why (Some) Men Are Hard To Get along With!? *Summary https://lnkd.in/gNUDUR2C Full Report: https://lnkd.in/gzDdrRZj
