Highlights
Hi everyone - I am looking for a new role and would appreciate your support. Thank you in advance for any connections, advice, or opportunities you can offer. #OpenToWork
I remember when AirPods were released, and the first users were ridiculed for how silly they looked. I remember in 2015, when the Apple Watch was released, and the first users were mocked for paying $800 for a device to tell the time. I remember when the iPad came out, and reviewers mocked how it sounded like a feminine hygiene product.
I can understand why kids might mock a new product category, but it's strange that adults still believe their self-respect can overcome their dopamine dependencies despite years of evidence to the contrary. You're not that strong. You will give in after the first time you experience a strong emotional reaction from using the headset.
I still remember my first "aha" moment with the iPhone 3GS. I went into the App Store and found a table tennis game. Then I downloaded an air hockey game. After that, I found a flight simulator. I opened the Stocks app. It became clear to me that this little box had solved the software discoverability problem, that I would never have to go to a store or a "warez" site again to get the next version of Norton or whatever. At that moment, I realized this odd rectangle was going to be a big deal.
Who cares how silly I look holding this thing to my head. I'm the main character in my own life, and I will have fun, and there's nothing anyone else can do about it. I will always prioritize my entertainment over conformism, and you will too, even if you don't know it yet.
Nevertheless, it's funny to see people retweeting a video of a guy wearing Vision Pro on the subway with comments like, "Oh, just look at this. Does this idiot not realize how ridiculous he looks? And he paid thousands of dollars for that silly thing?"
The future can't be stopped.
Sent, of course, on iPhone.
