Donna Freeman

Founder Tulsa Hills Youth Ranch

Donna Freeman is the co-founder of Tulsa Hills Youth Ranch (THYR) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She established THYR in 2011 with her husband Mike Freeman to help at-risk youth.1 Donna has a background in horticulture and education, having graduated from Texas A&M University.3

The Freemans were inspired to create THYR after recognizing the challenges faced by many children in Tulsa. They spent several years researching how to complement existing organizations and fill gaps in support for struggling youth.1 Donna's personal experience with the unconditional love of her childhood dog during difficult times influenced her decision to incorporate animals, particularly horses, into the ranch's programs.1

THYR aims to provide a nurturing environment where children can build trust, develop healthy relationships, and overcome past traumas. The ranch offers mentoring sessions and activities with horses to help children regain self-confidence and learn valuable life skills.13

Donna works alongside her husband Mike, as well as her sister Tricia Livingston and brother-in-law Kyle Livingston, who serve as directors of the ranch.3 Together, they operate THYR as a faith-based organization, guided by Christian values and a mission to serve children and families of all backgrounds.2
