As we approach National Day and we celebrate Singapore’s 59th birthday, I’m reminded of our nation’s foresight and progressiveness through my conversations with Senior Minister of State Kiat How Tan and fellow SG Digital Leaders on Tuesday evening.
Being part of IMDA’s SG Digital Leadership Accelerator is a privilege and a testament to how our nation forward plans, nurturing leaders in the tech ecosystem to drive Singapore’s digital future.
Looking forward to doing my part for our very own garden of eden!

AI for HR: Are You Onboard?
Last week, I had the honour of speaking at an HR seminar organized by AIA Singapore, where we explored the transformative impact of AI on HR practices.
Fermin Diez - PhD, SPHR, GRP, IHRP-MP, FSID showcased practical applications of AI within HR and even demonstrated on stage how good prompts should be written (>400 words!). While he delivered the message on the urgency to adopt AI, Anish Lalchandani followed up with a good counter-balance human-centred message and shared the importance of reskilling as skills become the new currency in today’s economy.
I contributed to the discussion by addressing on two aspects:
💲Quantifying ROI: Be it driving the adoption of AI or a well-being programme, HR teams need to get comfortable with quantifying ROI, specifically on business metrics. At EngageRocket, we often support companies in quantifying ROI because it offers better clarity as to what needs to be done, to whom, and what works and what doesn’t. As a C-suite, knowing that HR is always evaluating ROI and being efficient in the resources allocated will also give greater confidence for future budget approvals.
🛡️Ethical Considerations in AI: While we can't let the risks blind us from the opportunity AI presents, we also cannot let the opportunity blind us from the risks. To manage the risks, we can begin by setting baseline value-based principles on how the company intends to use AI responsibly (e.g. transparent & regular communication). We can create governance structures such as risk/impact assessments for every AI project and AI software adopted and for high-impact decisions that are automated, like hiring or promotions, we should also review the process design to ensure human oversight is incorporated. Additionally, it is also crucial to support users with training, not only to help them understand the risks but also to empower them to identify new potential risks.
A big thank you to AIA Singapore for organising this engaging event, Cynthia Tan for superbly moderating our discussion and my fellow panellists Clara Chua, Fermin Diez - PhD, SPHR, GRP, IHRP-MP, FSID and Anish Lalchandani for sharing their valuable insights! #AI #HRTech #HumanResources #AIinHR #HRInnovation #Fairness #ROITech #AIResponsibility #HRFuture
