Since launching my own gtm consulting business and working with some fantastic startups, I've learned a LOT of lessons (some the hard way).

Over the next 90 days, I will share some of these lessons ...

Lesson 3: With all this 'automation' available, getting account / contact data into CRM (SFDC) is still SUPER MANUAL.

I've been working with a very early company where we didn't even have SFDC set up (or any CRM), so I had to help them with the basics: get ICP Account and Contact data into CRM (so we could start prospecting).

  • What did we do? No we didn't create a Clay.io or a Copy.ai script

  • I hired a team in Pakistan to find all of the Account Contact information.

  • I worked with another team (thanks SendtoWin) to find and validate the Buyer Persona data we needed for each ICP contact. Without STW, I would have had to buy Apollo or ZoomInfo or similar to help me find this information (pain and $$$)

  • Then I imported all of these contacts into SFDC (not straightforward)

Overall, this took way more time than most startup founders understand or are comfortable with.

Now we're ready to go, but not yet ... we still need to write copy for outreach to each of these buyer personas, which has to be personalized. And you can't just write one email; you need to write 6-8. As you know to be successful in reaching out to someone cold or warm it's about timing and relevance (of your message).

BUT ... what do you do when you find someone on LI who looks and feels like the perfect contact to engage with that you didn't have in your CRM? And what if that person works at a company in your ICP but they are not an account yet?

YOU HAVE TO CUT AND PASTE AND COPY all of this info and manually create an account and a contact in your CRM. UGH!! With all of this 'automation' out there, why is there still so much manual S#$%

I'm guessing y'all might have some better ideas on how to make this simple and fast .... let's see what y'all do ... in the comments!

At the risk of opening the floodgates to receiving a bunch of messages from people who did NOT read this entire message ... I'm going to do it anyway because I trust my community on this platform to help 😉

We're looking to potentially hire two people for one of my early-stage companies.

The company: Stealth / Early-Stage / 5M in revenue (profitable) / B2B SaaS / Massive Tam (and Sam) / Biggest Company in the space is both our customer and investor / Plenty of Cash in the bank

What we need / want to hire as CONTRACTORS for now .. Yes, there might be an opportunity in the future to convert to full-time ...

Person 1: Product Manager. We've got a CTO who runs all of the technical aspects of the product, and the CEO is largely the product manager, but it's time to test out the idea of bringing on a product manager. We have a huge offshore development team, but we're thinking about bringing someone on to help us continue to shape the product/platform. We need someone who has helped an early-stage B2B SaaS company before as a product manager and wants to do it again (btw we've built a multi-product platform that is used by thousands daily, so knowing how to build for a global scale is crucial).

Person 2: HR / People Ops Contractor. NO, we do not want an HR CONSULTING Company ... we want a person who has been a people ops IC or Leader who wants to work with a Remote, Fun, Exciting early-stage company. We need help determining which direction we should go from an HR / People Ops perspective and we need some direction esp when it comes to what technology we might want to invest in to help us run and mange all of our people.

Ok ... feel free to message me directly BUT ...

Do not message me with links to people I should talk to ... Do not message me if you're a consulting company ... Do not message me if you want to try and sell me ANYTHING

Let's see how this goes :)
