In 2006, he was honored with the award for the best innovation for the betterment of society by the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. His groundbreaking contributions to social entrepreneurship earned him the prestigious Indian presidential award for innovation. Through his impactful initiatives, Dr. Muruganantham has installed more than 2,400 sanitary pad-making machines throughout 27 states in India and in 17 other countries. This knowledge then allows them to employ others, effectively multiplying the impact of his work.
