Dr. Juan Antonio Gallastegui Roca is a highly accomplished music director and conductor with a diverse portfolio in the Washington D.C. area.

With a Ph.D. in Music History from the University of La Rioja, a Master's in Orchestral Conducting from Bard College, and a Master's in Education from the University of Cantabria, Dr. Gallastegui brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his roles.

His educational background also includes a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology from the University of La Rioja in Spain and a double Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance and Pedagogy of Tuba from the Navarre Conservatory.

Dr. Gallastegui has been actively involved with several prestigious organizations, serving as the Music Director & Conductor of DC Strings Orchestra, the Music Director of the Rockville Concert Band, the Music Director of the Prince William Youth Orchestra, and the Director of Bands at Archbishop Carroll High School.

Throughout his career, he has conducted renowned orchestras such as the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra and the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Greater Washington D.C., showcasing his exceptional conducting skills and musical expertise.

Having been a recipient of the 'Rafael Del Pino Foundation' Scholarship in 2014, Dr. Gallastegui has continued to hone his craft under the guidance of distinguished mentors like Harold Farberman, Jorma Panula, Lawrence Golan, Mark Gibson, Leon Botstein, Dr. Laurence Wallach, and Dr. Kyle Blaha.

In 2020, Dr. Juan Gallastegui assumed the role of Music Director & Conductor of DC Strings Orchestra, where he led the ensemble in a successful 5th Season Opening Concert at Harbour Square in SW DC, further solidifying his reputation as a dynamic and talented conductor.
