Highlights
Almost 70% of developers say they lose 8 or more hours weekly because of inefficiencies.
33% report that 12 to 16 hours are lost every week.
What a shocking number! Worse, less than half of devs think management knows or cares about their problems.
Less fix this!

Developer experience is crucial for performance, productivity, innovation, and code quality. To enhance it, we must first measure it effectively. Surveys are a powerful tool for this purpose.
After my GOTO talk about improving development experience, many developers approached me and asked me how to send such a developer experience survey.
So, here's a step-by-step guide to designing and running a developer experience survey:
- Define the Survey Goal/Focus: Identify key factors to measure based on current challenges.
- Question Design: Create clear, concise questions using closed-ended and open-ended formats.
- Piloting Your Survey: Test with a small group to refine questions and survey length.
- Running the Survey: Use tools like Google Forms or SurveyMonkey for smooth data collection.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Clean and analyze data to uncover insights.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly update and adapt your survey to keep it relevant.
